Staffing Issues and the rise of the Delta Variant

Due to the continuing issue of finding staff, we are once again being forced to modify how we operate and what food we are capable of providing. For this weekend,(August 20th), we will be moving to a very limited menu that focuses heavily on BEER/WINE/COCKTAILS and then some light fair to go along with your beverages. Please know, this is not what we would like to be doing, but in an effort to continue being open, we must evolve with this dramatic labor shortage. Please be kind, and enjoy what we have to offer. A comfortable space, good views, nice music, and light fare.

We expect to modify this over the next week and perhaps go to a reservation based system, which will limit the number of guests in the pub, but allow us to serve the food that we would like to serve. Please stay tuned here and on the newsletter for details as they evolve.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

The delta variant is obviously running rampant and on many of our minds. After last year, we HAVE to remain open, but we will not do so in a way that jeopardizes our health. Both Ellen and I received our shots so that we could open and offer a service to the community. We are now going to flip that around and ask that you only enter the pub if you have been vaccinated and show no signs of illness. We can not afford to have an outbreak in the pub, which would effectively shut us down for a significant portion of the remaining fall season.

If you are a guest in the Inn, we expect you to abide by the same rules. If this requires a cancelation of your reservation, we will refund you all monies and charge you no penalty for the cancelation.

As such, we are asking that you please only enter if you have been vaccinated AND are showing no signs of illness. Please do not make this an issue. There are other places to eat and you won’t go hungry. If you have not been vaccinated, please respect our wishes, don’t harass us or the staff, and simply move on.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these issues.

Regards,

Glenn & Ellen

New COVID-19 Directions From The Governor

Today, Governor Mills announced her updated plan for allowing tourists to enter the state of Maine. While we encourage you to go to the Governors page for the exact details, here is a summary as it relates to Cohill’s and our guests:

  • First, residents of New Hampshire and Vermont are not subject to any restrictions and are free to visit the state. This is great news for residents of these states and we hope that those seeking a vacation in Maine will take advantage of this rule change.

  • Second, if you are not from Maine, and can certify to having had a ‘Negative’ COVID-19 test result less than 72 hours before entering the state, then you are free of the 2 week quarantine rule. You will be asked to provide proof of the negative test result at check in time.

  • Lastly, all other individuals, are still restricted to the 2 week quarantine rule, which must. be done at a private residence before you are allowed to stay at Cohill’s or any other establishment.

We applaud the Governors continued efforts to balance the health and well being of Mainer’s while at the same time trying to deal with the real and crushing economic crisis that Maine small business is enduring. There is no good answer, but this is certainly a positive step.

Should you have any questions as it relates to your stay or potential stay at Cohill’s, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or over the phone.

If you currently have a reservation with a deposit and wish to convert that deposit to a gift certificate plus a $20 gift from us, please contact us via email to arrange for the cancelation and the electronic gift card. The E-Card can be used towards future reservations or in the Pub at a future date. Their will be no expiration date on these E-Cards.

Stay Safe
